Primary focus is the promotion of support services and education programs for people living with Parkinson’s, their families, caregivers, health care professionals and other interested parties. It also supports the National Research Program of the Parkinson Society Maritime Region. It funds the Maritime Parkinson Clinic located at Dalhousie University. Services provided include a toll-free information and support line, an extensive Resource Centre, annual conference and workshops.
At the community level, programs such as exercise classes, massage therapy, and speech therapy may be offered. Parkinson Express provides up-to-date information on research, treatments and activities in the Maritimes. Chapters/support groups in New Brunswick are in Restigouche/Campbellton, Saint John and Bouctouche.
